deals like these and the money back guarentee you have

nothing to lose and wonderful makeup to gain!

Here is an amazing testimonial from a Casey July a recent

client who purchased her first Avon makeup. She posted this

on my facebook page,

"I wanted to share my testimony for Avon with you. Up until a

few weeks ago I had never used any Avon makeup products.

AJ gave me the opportunity to use the makeup at sale

prices, and assured me that if I did not like it I could get my

money back.

For the summer, I am a huge sun worshiper. I love to be

active outside and I don't mind the heat. In the summer I

struggle finding waterproof eye makeup that stays in place

and does not turn into a huge mess. Also, there are times

with work that I can apply my makeup and wear it for hours

at a time without being able to reapply it. I have now worn

my waterproof eyeliner and mascara walking, swimming, and

even shooting in a cemetery at midnight in the rain.

I am so excited to find something that looks beautiful, is easy

to apply, and helps me look my best no matter what activites

 I get into." Casey July

Rococo Punk Marie Antionette Headpiece

So I have a photo shoot coming up in a few weeks with Dakota Friend of Friendly Fire Fotography.
This photo shoot is for a young girl who is around 13 and she wanted something fun and different. Well, I have been wanting to do a Rococo Punk Marie Antionette inspired piece for a while. I was going to do a wig but since it is getting warmer and she has never worn a wig I decided to make a huge headpiece.
The challenges: Weight, comfortablity and girly!!
My first concern was the weight. If I did something as big as I wanted it to be I was worried that it would be too heavy for her.
My solution.... TULLE! Yards and Yards of tulle.

Next How to make it comfortable for her. I didnt want her to have too many bobby pins in her hair. She is not a model and has not had the experiences with LOADS of pins in her hair.
My solution..... Headband. I attached all the tulle onto a head band.

My next concern was she wanted something really pink and girly. This is not neccessarily my forte.
My solution.... 4 shades of pink tulle with some white. A pink glittery bird and tiny pink sparkly heart accents.

I think it turned out beautifully. In a few weeks we will be having the photo shoots and I will post some photos from the shoot here.

The top photos are when I was in the middle of designing it. I was playing around with the shape and the placement of the bird.

Final Project

This is the final shape and height of the piece. It is over 2 feet tall and has about 15 yards of tulle, 12 pink heart shaped sparkly accents, and a beautiful pink bird. The bird is clipped on so it can easily be repositioned or removed completely.

When I posted this on my facebook page, I had great response and I have even had a wonderful lady ask if I could create her a one of a kind top hat Marie Antionette inspired piece for her wedding renewal. I am working on some sketches for her. SO EXCITING!

What do you think of my Rococo Punk Marie Antionette Cotton Candy headpiece?

Thin Man Night

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a classic movie and television lover!
From All About Eve with Bette Davis to Lucille Ball on I Love Lucy.....
I love them all. So much so that I create art using images of the famous starlets and movies of the golden age of Hollywood.
Of course I have my favorites. And tonight I have decided to watch a wonderful movie series from the 1930s. Starring William Powell and the lovely Myrna Loy.

The Thin Man collection is a wonderful witty old time detective movie with a few twists. My favorite part of the movies is the on camera chemistry between William Powell and Myrna Loy. For those of you who havent seen The Thin Man Collection, think chemistry in the caliber of Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.

William Powell plays detective Nick Charles. Nick returns to

New York with his new wife Nora, Myrna Loy and their dog,

Asta. They get involved in solving cases while playong off

each other unique charm and wit.

The Thin Man was one of my mom's favorite movie

collections.

I recall spending many days watching it whenever it came on

TCM and a few years ago I bought mom the whole collection

for Christmas.

We watched together it a few times before she passed away last year. This week I am missing her so very much, it may be because of Mother's Day last Sunday or the fact that it is coming up on the anniversary of her passing. Whatever it is I have decide that tonight will be a Thin Man night.

Do you have shows that remind you of people you have lost?
I bet you do. I think it is important to have days where you pay tribute to those you have lost and watching the Thin Man is one way I do this for my mom.

Introvert Techniques to Deal with the World

I  have known that I was an extreme introvert for a long time now. So my son, Dakota, suggested I take one of those personality test to determine what exactly was my personality type. It turns out that I am one of the rarest types for females. I am a INTJ.
INTJs form just two percent of the population, and women of this personality type are especially rare, forming just 0.8% of the population - it is often a challenge for them to find like-minded individuals who are able to keep up with their relentless intellectualism and chess-like maneuvering.
See, I always knew I was a strange one!

So how does a female INTJ deal with the world?
Very carefully!
I have a difficult time dealing with even friends and family at times, let alone the rest of the human population.
I have anxiety attacks and a sense of overwhelming dread when I have to be in a new social enviroment. This can make life difficult but I have learned simple techniques that help me in my life, in my business, and in my relationships.

My number one technique:

Scripting!
What do I mean by scripting?
Before I enter into a new social or business enviroment I actually play out conversations, scenrios and anything that could possibly happen at these events.
I walk myself through as many possiblities as possible before I even get out of my home to drive to these situations. I ask myself, What will "Jane Doe" say?
What will "John Doe" do?
What should I say to keep the conversation going?
How can I interact with everyone while still being quiet and introspective?

Some of these scripting sessions last days while others are just hours.
So many options and thoughts go into everyday outtings.
Yes this helps but sometimes I still get overwhelmed. There are times that even after my scripting work, I have anxiety attacks. Although, with scripting these are not as bad as they were when I was younger.

My second technique:
This one comes really naturally for me.
Analysis

Once I am in a new social situation I spend about 5 to 20 minutes examining the whole social terrain. Some people call it being a wallflower, or people watching.
Here is when I take my silent notes in my head about what everyone is doing, saying, wearing, and anything else that may help when I am faced with a dreaded conversation.
Don't get what I am saying wrong. It is not like I dislike or dread the people who I am having conversations with (well for the most part.)
It is literally the act of conversing and trying to be "normal" that is the dreaded part.
This is probably why I do so much better with the written word rather than the spoken. I can see what I am saying and analyze my own words so much better when they are right in front of me.

My third technique:
Comfort

Sounds strange but if you watch long enough you should find someone or something that brings you into your comfort zone. This can be as simple as a photo on the wall or kids playing tag outside. Sometimes it can be difficult to spot something but I have found that I can do this in most situations.
So when scripting isnt working, and analysis has not quite made me feel at ease I go toward my comfort.
I love art and anything creative so if there is something in the space that looks creative or a great piece of art, I position myself close to that object or activity. This way I can steer the conversations in a direction that I feel comfortable with. In family get togethers I tend to be in the "babysitting" role.
Why?
I find it is easier to be in anxiety filled situations if you surround yourself with carefree personalities. And who else is more carefree than kids. I also think that kids help to bring out a creative side in most people, which helps me stay in my comfort zone.

Above are justa few of the techniques that I use when dealing with the world as an introvert. Are you an introvert?
Do  you have any tips or suggestions that I can impliment in my attempt to deal with the world?
If so please post a comment below.
Or do you find these techniques helpful? If so I would love to hear from you.

I would love for you to follow my life and my "Side" Stories.
Thanks
~AJ

Summer Heat and Makeup

So as the temperature starts to rise women have one frustrating problem. Droopy makeup. Yes, that my "raccoon" problem when eyeliner and mascara meet sweat or the I had makeup on at the beginning of the day but it "washed away" problems.
I get asked all the time what can we do to help our makeup stay where we put it during hot summer days.
Here are 7 tips to help you keep your makeup
 on during the summer heat
1: Make sure to use a moisturizer try one with SPF. Make sure it is a light weight moisturizer.  Try Avon's Ideal Flawless BB Beauty Balm Cream.

2:  Primer your face. Apply some before you put on foundation. It works like a double-sided tape for your foundation.  Try Avon's MagiX Face Perfector which has SPF also. Another option if moisturizer, primer, and foundation sound like too much of hassle? Try to use only Avon's Ideal Flawless BB Beauty Balm Cream or Avon's CC Color Corrector Cream. Both have SPF, have multi benefits and coverage. Remember though that if it is dry out your skin needs moisturizer to stay healthy.

3: Try a light weight, look for a sheer-coverage product. Remember the more you put on your face the more you may sweat. I suggest using a cream to powder foundation or a mineral foundation. These tend to be lighter feeling and can be reapplied easily if you need. Try Avon's Ideal Flawless Invisible Coverage Cream to Powder foundation or Avon's Smooth Minerals Powder foundation.
4: Eye Primer. Don't let your eye shadow disappear or do that dry crease thin. To prevent use a primer on your eyelids. Don't want to have another primer? Try Avon's Extra Lasting eyeshadow Inks, they are a cream-gel formula with pure color pigments. Crease Proof, Water Proof and Sweat Proof. It can be worn alone or used as a base for your other eye shadows.

5: Waterproof eye makeup makes a big difference when the heat is on the  rise, both eye liner and mascara. To avoid that drippy eye makeup look, use Avon's Stay Put Waterproof Glimmersticks for eyes and Avon's Wash Off Waterproof Mascara.

6: Always set makeup with a powder. A mineral powder is a great option. It will keep makeup in place, smooth out the skin, and also absorb oil. Try Avon's mineral Transparent Glow Powder Foundation, it is a great setting powder.
7: Don't forget your lips! For a moisturizing color, try the stay put power of a lip stain with a moisturizing balm. Avon's Extra Lasting Lip Stain +Balm is the perfect finishing touch for your summer makeup.

Remember this summer you can keep your makeup fresh, carefree and easy with Avon products.
