Rococo Punk Marie Antionette Headpiece

So I have a photo shoot coming up in a few weeks with Dakota Friend of Friendly Fire Fotography.
This photo shoot is for a young girl who is around 13 and she wanted something fun and different. Well, I have been wanting to do a Rococo Punk Marie Antionette inspired piece for a while. I was going to do a wig but since it is getting warmer and she has never worn a wig I decided to make a huge headpiece.
The challenges: Weight, comfortablity and girly!!
My first concern was the weight. If I did something as big as I wanted it to be I was worried that it would be too heavy for her.
My solution.... TULLE! Yards and Yards of tulle.

Next How to make it comfortable for her. I didnt want her to have too many bobby pins in her hair. She is not a model and has not had the experiences with LOADS of pins in her hair.
My solution..... Headband. I attached all the tulle onto a head band.

My next concern was she wanted something really pink and girly. This is not neccessarily my forte.
My solution.... 4 shades of pink tulle with some white. A pink glittery bird and tiny pink sparkly heart accents.

I think it turned out beautifully. In a few weeks we will be having the photo shoots and I will post some photos from the shoot here.

The top photos are when I was in the middle of designing it. I was playing around with the shape and the placement of the bird.

Final Project

This is the final shape and height of the piece. It is over 2 feet tall and has about 15 yards of tulle, 12 pink heart shaped sparkly accents, and a beautiful pink bird. The bird is clipped on so it can easily be repositioned or removed completely.

When I posted this on my facebook page, I had great response and I have even had a wonderful lady ask if I could create her a one of a kind top hat Marie Antionette inspired piece for her wedding renewal. I am working on some sketches for her. SO EXCITING!

What do you think of my Rococo Punk Marie Antionette Cotton Candy headpiece?
